Leicester’s rise to European football will see them be a part of the 2016 International Champions Cup pre-season tournament. Leicester’s participation has been confirmed along with Chelsea and Liverpool for the 10-team tournament.
The news was confirmed moments earlier by Relevent Sports, the committee who have organized the tournament for last 3 years. ESPN’s Dale Johnson tweeted the same where Leicester’s participation with European football’s elites was given a proper mention.

Charlie Stillitano, chairman of Relevent Sports released a statement confirming the expansion of ICC event this year. Stillitano said: “The competition and clubs involved this year speaks to the continued growth and success the International Champions Cup has experienced in its four-year history,”
One of the biggest games of this year’s competition is a Liverpool vs. Barcelona clash which will see Luis Suarez playing against against his former team. This match has been scheduled for August 6.
Other major attractions from the competition come in form of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG being the teams taking art in this year’s International Champions Cup pre-season tournament.
Manchester United will be the biggest absentee from this year’s event after The Red Devils announced their pre-season tour to China, where they will go up against their arch rivals Manchester City in one of the games.
