Real Madrid are not planning to give up on signing Eden Hazard this summer after Mirror revealed the latest update on this ever-lasting transfer saga.
According to reports, Los Blancos are prepared to offer Alvaro Morata as part of their £75million offer to lure the 25-year old Belgian attacker away from Stamford Bridge.
Hazard was back to his sumptuous best against Hungary for the Euro 2016 round of 16 clash after he scored one and set up the other in a 3-0 win for the Red Devils.
That display once again put Real Madrid on high alert as manager Zinedine Zidane is one of the huge admirers of Chelsea superstar. Zidane sees Hazard as the ideal player to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo and is determined to strike a deal for him this summer.
According to Mirror, Real Madrid are willing to offer £40m + Morata (valued at £35m) to force Chelsea’s hands in to selling one of their best players in recent seasons.
Despite a less than convincing 2015/16 campaign, Blues are sure of Hazard coming good under the new manager Antonio Conte, however, given Conte’s liking to sign Morata we may see this unlikely looking transfer going through.
Real Madrid are open to the idea of including James Rodriguez as part of the deal, whom Chelsea have scouted several times in last 12 months. Real value James in the £50m bracket thus a further £25m offer would meet the reported £75million swap deal for Hazard.
As for Chelsea, they kicked off their summer transfer window last night after agreeing a£33m transfer to sign Marseille striker and Hazard’s international teammate Michy Batshuayi.
According to Sky Sports, the 25-year old has already completed his medical at Belgium’s Euro 2016 camp and will be unveiled as a Chelsea player after his round of 16 match against Wales. Conte wants to deploy a 3-5-2 system at Chelsea next season with Morata being his preferred choice to partner Batshuayi upfront.
Chances of Hazard-Morata swap deal going through – 3.5/5
The sheer will from both the managers to sign these two players could see this impossible looking transfer to be completed this summer.
From where I see it, Hazard could either player as the centre-forward or be shifted in the midfield, either ways it will hamper his performance on the pitch. He is a dribbler and loves to operate from the wings.
However, given Hazard’s fragile work rate and Conte’s liking to field full-backs or hard working wingers in the wide role, Hazard may not be the best fit at Chelsea next season.
Real Madrid’s offer is indeed tempting as it would enable them to land one of their high priority targets (Morata) and get enough cash to go out and buy the exact kind of player Conte likes. This is all signaling towards Hazard’s Stamford Bridge exit in weeks to follow.
