Thiago Silva

Chelsea are in talks to sign the experienced central defender Thiago Silva from PSG, according to reports from the Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

According to the journal, Silva is undergoing contract extension talks with PSG which has hit a snag due to Chelsea’s interest in the player.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is eager to add Silva to his roaster as he feels he does not have enough leaders in his team to guide Chelsea to a successful 2016/17 campaign.

Chelsea have already signed David Luiz from PSG earlier this season and are eyeing a second scalp from the French league in a matter of months.

Silva joined PSG from Milan in 2012 for €42m, and now Transfermarkt values him at €16m, a figure which Chelsea will happily for the experience Silva will bring to the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Chances of Silva signing for Chelsea – 1/5

This is a no-brainer at the moment and the ideal strategy from Silva’s camp to speed up the contract talks with PSG.

Although Chelsea are in need of signing a quality defender in January their most probable target will be Leonardo Bonucci and not an out-of-form and over-rated Thiago Silva.
