Deal Close – Antonio Conte convinces Chelsea to pay £30million for Liverpool’s priority target

Liverpool agree fee to sign Jonas Hector from FC Cologne

Chelsea are ready to make their move and sign FC Koln defender Jonas Hector, according to reports from Kickr (via Express).

Hector was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer with Jurgen Klopp favouring a transfer for the left back. However, Klopp took too long in deciding and now has given Chelsea the advantage of signing the German defender.

Chances of Hector signing for Chelsea – 3/5

I for one would not be surprised to see this transfer happen in January. For last 12 months or so, Hector has looked like a player ready to make his next move and is waiting for a big money offer from somewhere.

The Blues are lacking in depth as far as the left back position is considered and Hector would be the perfect alternative to Marcos Alonso in the case of an injury.

Furthermore, Hector his slightly more defensive in his approach as compared to Alonso and therefore Conte can use him in a different tactic for big games as well.

Hector can operate as a defensive midfielder and his versatility would be a major plus if Chelsea manage to sign him.
