Chelsea transfer news: Chief confirms Chelsea will announce signing of City hero anytime soon

Danny Drinkwater

After the 2017 FA Community Shield Cup loss to Arsenal, Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte has been looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2017/18 campaign and their return to the Champions League.

Another player has been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge and it appears to be Danny Drinkwater of Leceister City FC.

The 27 year old has reportedly been keen to speak to the Premier League champions, but Leceister are reluctant to sell the player who has been a key success in their recent seasons.

It appears that Chelsea manager Conte is a big admirer of the English Midfielder, having been impressed with his association with the Frenchman N’Golo Kante who helped the Foxes to their League title two years ago.

Conte has not had the best of time this summer in the transfer window as reports also covered that Chelsea Transfer Chief Marina Granovskavia is looking towards signing new players before the end of this summer transfer window.

Conte gave a response after being asked about potential transfers in the wake of the loss of Community shield to Arsenal on Sunday.

He Said: ‘I have always replied to this question, I hope in the future to have different questions, than if there is necessity to improve our squad.

‘I have replied. My reply is always (this) one, otherwise it means I was telling you a lie. I repeat always the same.’

Drinkwater started his professional career at Manchester United before moving to join the Foxes in 2012. He played better at Leceister, helped them win the Premier League, and made several appearances for his national team.
