Bid approved – 27-year-old Star set for a big move

Celtic fans might have had a good rest over the weekend, with Fulham signing Alfie Mawson and edging closer to a deal for Arsenal’s Calum Chambers.

The Cottagers, after all, have spent the last few weeks preparing to launch an offer for Dedryck Boyata, the Belgian World Cup star who Celtic are desperate to hold on to with just one year left on his current deal at Celtic Park.

But just because Fulham have alternatives, that does not mean Boyata is off their shopping list. With the transfer window just a few days to go, the Times has reported that Fulham has submitted a bid worth £9 million to Celtic for Boyata.

It is claimed that the former Manchester City youngster is wanted to make up for the absence of Tomas Kalas, who has returned to Chelsea after two seasons loan spell at Craven Cottage.

It is unknown just yet how Celtic have responded to the hefty bid from the Premier League newcomers. Considering that Boyata will be a free agent in less than a year, £9 million certainly is a good deal.

The Sun had reported in July that Fulham was ready to offer Boyata a considerable pay rise to convince him of a move to West London, meaning the deal makes financial sense for all parties involved.
