Celtic set for big move for football legend

Celtic was sent out of the Champions League on Tuesday night and it was once again their frail defence that crumbled, and Brendan Rodgers must consider signing free agent John Terry.

Well, the Bhoys would have been hoping to proceed to the group stages of Europe’s elite competition having drawn 1-1 with AEK Athens in the first leg of their qualifier earlier this month.

However, in the Greek capital on Tuesday, they quickly found themselves 2-0 behind and with a mountain to climb, and their backline was struggling to keep up when the host found their two goals.

With Dedryck Boyata reportedly leaving Parkhead before August 31 and with the likes of Kris Ajer, Jozo Simunovic and Jack Hendry not looking to be up to the task, Rodgers’ priority may well be to secure the signature of a centre-back in the nearest future.

The likes of Ajer and Hendry certainly seem to have great potential at the ages of 20 and 23 respectively, but perhaps they need an experienced player to play alongside them to lead them in the right direction, advising on what they need to be doing to improve their defensive games.

Terry would do exactly that given his vast experience and quality he has shown throughout his career, and he is currently available for free having left Aston Villa at the end of his one-year deal this summer.

The 37-year-old could well jump at the opportunity to compete for one last league title with the curtains drawing on his career drawing, and he would be the ideal player to take someone like Hendry, who has been criticised by his own supporters on Twitter for his displays, under his wing.
