What highly-rated ace will bring to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, appears to be fed up with Dutch defender Jairo Riedewald. The 22-year-old arrived Selhurst Park with a mighty reputation for around £8.2m from Ajax.

Ex-Eagles boss Frank de Boer masterminded his arrival to shore up the defence. Palace were lightweight conceding over 60 goals in 2016/17.

Nearly 18 months after his switch, Riedewald is yet to justify the hype. The 22-year-old hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season with all four appearances in domestic cups.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s emergence has only made things more difficult for the Dutchman.

Sky Sports is reporting that Riedewald is in talks with Celta de Vigo about an initial loan move, with the possibility of a permanent deal at the end of the season, but the La Liga side would need to avoid relegation.

However, Palace management and fans should give the youngster a chance. Reidewald is very much still young with plenty room for improvement.

An extremely versatile player, he happily switches between defensive and midfield positions.
Although he is best at centre-back, he can still do descent job as left-back and even covering as a defensive midfielder.

Reidewald is assured on the ball and can comfortably play out from the back. The Dutchman can equally dictate the tempo of games.

When he’s not with the ball, he shrugs off attackers and waits for them to make a move before typically timing standing tackles.

These traits may not beam at the moment but would ultimately do. Crystal Palace are 14th on the log after 22 games. But the Eagles are just four points adrift of safety.
